Applications are invited from candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to PhD in Environment and Disaster Management for the academic year 2023-24.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The applicants should have a good academic record throughout, with at least 55% marks in both BSc./BA and MSc./MA (Environment Science, Disaster Management, Geography, Bio-Technology) examinations from any recognized University or Institute of the country. SC/ST candidates will enjoy a 5% concession in the minimum eligibility of marks.
  2. Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified in CSIR-UGC NET (JRF) /GATE /JEST /equivalent national level examination with Research Fellowship.
  3. Candidate should be below 30 years on the date of application.
  4. Candidate with Graduation/ Post-Graduation in any other subject shall be considered for admission provided she/ he has displayed considerable and persistent interests on the subject through publications and/ or hands on experience of working in the fields of environment and/ or disaster management. Maximum age bar of such candidates may also be relaxed at the discretion of the Department.

Number of vacancies:

Each year only two candidates shall be admitted for the PhD course, one working on environmental issues and the other on disaster risk management, climate change and issues related to interface of environment and disaster management.

How to Apply

  • New applicants have to first register on the Online Admission Portal, then login and fill up the online application form.
  • Online Admission Portal : https://isr.rkmvu.ac.in/admission
  • After successfully submitting the application form, pay the application fee (INR 500.00) online from the same Portal. Link can be found under ‘Options’ next to the program name on the Dashboard.
  • While filling up the online application-form attach the scanned copies of your passport size photo, mark-sheets and other applicable certificates/documents.
  • Once Application-form is successfully submitted and application-fee is paid, Receipt (also Application-summary) will be available for download from the same Portal from the ‘Dashboard‘.
  • Admit Card: will be available for download when the dates for Admission Test / Interview are announced. Check the Website / Admission Portal regularly for updates.

Important Dates:

  • Last date for application: 30 June, 2023 (Friday).
  • Date of Research Eligibility Test (RET): 07 July, 2023 (Friday). This will be MCQs based test in the areas of Environmental Science and disaster Management
  • Time and Venue of RET: 11 am to 1 pm; RKMVERI, Narendrapur campus
  • List of candidates shortlisted for the interview will be published on:  8 July, 2023
  • Date of interview: 19 July, 2023 (Wednesday) from 2 PM
  • List of candidates Selected for admission: will be announced by noon of 26 July, 2023
  • Admission Fees Payment & Admission Process: 27 July, 2023 to 03 August, 2023.
  • Commencement of the programme: 04 August, 2023 (Friday).

Selection Procedure:

  • Applicants with PhD fellowships under CSIR-UGC NET (JRF)/DST-INSPIRE or other Governmental Schemes will be selected on the basis of a viva-voce examination to be conducted by the Department.
  • Those with no fellowships will have to appear for a written test (Research Eligibility Test) to be conducted by the Department. Candidates qualifying in the written test will be further screened through viva-voce examination.
  • The requirement of written test may be waived off in respect of candidates who have displaced their capability of research through publication and/ or work experiences in the fields of environment and disaster management.
