About the Programme

The one year Post Graduate Diploma in Post harvest and Food Technology (PHFT) programme covers different aspects of Food Preservation with latest technological applications for processing of fruits, vegetables, cereals, milk, fish, meat, etc., specially used for commercial production of processed foods. The programme also covers the methods of processing for production of Packaged Foods, canning, pickling, frozen foods etc.

The department has Food Processing Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Food Quality evaluation and Food Safety Laboratory. The department has a complete unit to impart knowledge for Minimal Processing of Fruits and vegetables and cold storage facilities for storage including deep freeze facilities.

The objective of the programme is to impart hands-on training and exposure to the industry so that the students are trained and equipped to start or run a food industry.
