Applications are invited for the position of Project Assistant-I (1 Position) and Field Worker (1 Position) in the project funded by the SEED Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India at the School of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Narendrapur Campus.

Project Title: “Designing Community-Managed Climate- Resilient Farming Systems and Homesteads to Improve Livelihoods and Nutrition of Ultra- Poor Populations in the Coastal Saline Zone of West Bengal.”

Principal Investigator: Dr. Anirban Roy, Assistant Professor, Division of Genetics and Plant Breeding, RKMVERI, Narendrapur.

Essential Qualification:

B.Sc. (Agriculture). Hons.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Preference will be given to freshly graduated students of M.Sc. (Ag.) in Genetics and Plant Breeding/ M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agronomy/ M.Sc. in Agriculture and Rural Development. / MSc. (Ag.) in Agril. Extension.

Desirable experience/expertise:

 

  • Basic Knowledge of Agriculture

  • Proficiency in using quantitative and qualitative software

  • Knowledge and experience of working with communities.

Note: Having Proficiency in Bengali language is desirable for community interaction.

Field Worker

₹ 18,000/- per month (Consolidated)

Essential Qualification:

Graduate in any discipline.

Desirable experience/expertise:

  • Minimum two years of experience in field management and community development in Sundarban region.

3 Years or the termination of the project, whichever is earlier.

Responsibility of the Project Assistant-I:

Quantitative survey and PRA, Scientific data analysis and statistical software handling, participatory varietal selection and varietal trial, community seed system management, training manual preparation, training organization, report writing, scientific manuscript preparation etc.

Responsibility of the Field Worker/Scientific Administrative Assistant:

Community mobilization, community level logistics management, extensive fieldwork, field data collection, reporting etc.
Probation Period: For six (6) months from the date of joining to the project. This period may be extended based on the performance of the fellow.

General Information

  • The appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on the termination of the project.
  • The appointment of the applicant will be governed by the terms and conditions of the funding agency and the implementing agency (RKMVERI)
  • The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognised Universities / Institutions / Boards, etc.
  • The prescribed educational qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle the candidates to be called for the interview.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be informed about the interview date and time by email/phone call. The name of selected candidate will be posted on the website.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the interview.
