The Faculty Centre of Integrated Rural Development and Management (IRDM), Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Narendrapur, celebrated the ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav’ on December 11, 2024. This event commemorated the birth anniversary of the esteemed Tamil poet, writer, journalist, and eminent freedom fighter of the Indian independence movement, Shri Subramania Bharati, popularly known as “Mahakavi Bharathi.” The primary objective of the celebration was to promote the dissemination of mother languages and to raise awareness about linguistic and cultural traditions worldwide, fostering solidarity among speakers of diverse languages. The event was graced by the presence of the Honourable Dean, faculty members, and students of the Narendrapur Campus. The program commenced with Dr. Ashutosh Sawarkar emphasizing the significance of celebrating ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav’ and its importance in preserving and promoting linguistic heritage. Subsequently, the Honourable Dean, Prof. Tapash Dasgupta, delivered an insightful address elaborating on the linguistic diversity of India and the cultural richness reflected through various manifestations, including literature, crafts, performing arts, and other cultural forms. A notable highlight of the event was the participation of students hailing from different states such as Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Jharkhand. They presented songs and delivered speeches in their respective mother tongues, showcasing the vibrancy of India’s linguistic diversity. The enthusiasm and active participation of all students made the celebration memorable. The program witnessed a total attendance of 97 participants, reflecting strong engagement and interest in the event’s theme and activities.
