Applications are invited for the following posts in ‘Sasya Shyamala’ Krishi Vigyan Kendra (under the aegis of ‘Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute’, a Deemed-to-be-University), located at Village Arapanch, P.O. Sonarpur, Dist. South 24- Parganas, Kolkata 700150.

1. Senior Scientist-cum-Head: One post

Pay scale : Applicable as per the ICAR norms for the KVK staff

Essential Qualification

• Post-graduate and doctoral degrees in any discipline of Agricultural Sciences with 8 years’ experience as scientist or any equivalent position in the pay band-3 of Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.5400/Rs.6000/Rs.7000/Rs.8000 or more having made contribution to research / teaching / extension education as evidenced by published work/innovations and impact. OR
• Doctoral degree in Agricultural Sciences including relevant basic sciences with minimum 8 years’ experience of high-quality postdoctoral research in an institution/organization as evidenced by at least 6 publications in journals with NAAS rating of 7.5 or above.

Desirable

Experience in frontline extension/Co-ordination and monitoring of extension programmes, ability to understand and speak regional language for proper interaction with the local farmers. Knowledge of agricultural scenario of the State of West Bengal and the district covered by the KVK.

2. Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) (Plant Breeding): One post

Pay scale: Applicable as per the ICAR norms for the KVK SMS.

Qualification

Master’s degree in “Genetics and Plant Breeding” or “Plant Breeding” from a recognized University.

Desirable

Doctoral degree in the “Genetics and Plant Breeding” or “Plant Breeding” from a recognized University. Experience in breeding programmes, seed production and seed processing programmes.

Maximum Age limit

35 years as on the closing date of application.

Note: Maximum age limit is relaxable as per Govt. of India rules for reserved categories. However, the above age limit may not applicable to the candidates who are already in service on regular establishment of Government/other recognized institutions or universities.

General Instructions

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. Persons in service may submit an advance copy of the application along with the application fee (as applicable) directly to the Registrar, ‘Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational & Research Institute’ (Deemed-to-be-University), P.O. Belur Math, Dist. Howrah 711202, West Bengal, on or before the closing date. The application duly forwarded by the parent office/ employer must reach the Board within 15 days of the closing date, failing which the application would stand automatically rejected without notice.
3. The candidate on deputation/foreign service should get his/her application forwarded from his/her parent office under intimation to office in which he/she is on deputation/foreign service.
4. The candidates should attach documents as specified in the application form.
5. Along with the application, a copy of the online receipt of application fee should be submitted”.
6. SC/ST/PH candidates must attach self attested copy of relevant certificate issued by the competent authority.
7. Incomplete applications and applications not accompanied with the prescribed fee (unless exempted) are liable to be rejected.
8. Original documents in support of various claims should be produced at the time of interview.
9. The University will not pay the travelling or other expenses of applicants/ candidates called for interview.
10. A candidate must be in sound health. He/she must be prepared to undergo such medical examination and satisfy such medical authority as required.
11. Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) is a Deemed-to-be University and the Sasya Shyamala KVK (at Arapanch, South 24 Paraganas District, West Bengal) is a Project of ICAR run by the Host Institute RKMVERI. Pay and allowances, travelling and other allowances and other service conditions of officers and establishments in the service of the KVK are regulated in accordance with the relevant rules/instructions issued by the ICAR for KVKs from time to time. However, leave etc. will be regulated by the rules and regulations of the Host institutions.
12. The decision of the RKMVERI with regards to the eligibility or otherwise of any candidate based upon evaluation of the application and particulars/records submitted with the application by the candidate shall be final, and the University will not entertain any correspondence in this regard with the unsuccessful candidates.
13. Canvassing in any manner shall lead to disqualification.
