(1) Name of the position: Assistant Professor

We are looking for bright young candidates, with passion for teaching and research, who will be capable of contributing substantially to the academic activities of our ‘School of Environment and Disaster Management’. With these two interdisciplinary subjects growing rapidly in recent years thanks to computer science and satellite technology as well as other allied fields in natural and social sciences, we need researchers with good exposure to these various fields and post-doctoral experience in reputed Institutes/Universities.

Teaching capability and communication skills for transmission of the knowledge of research to the next generation of students are also important. Ability for independent research as well as guiding/supervising students in their postgraduate dissertations and PhD theses are a sine qua non.

Qualifications and experience

As per the latest UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers in Universities and Colleges and other Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education.

Should be equipped with a deep understanding of geographical principles and advanced technologies essential for environmental and disaster management; should have honed skills in utilizing remote sensing data and geospatial tools to analyze and mitigate environmental risks and disasters effectively; proficiency in statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to develop innovative approaches for predictive modeling and decision support systems, enhancing disaster preparedness and response strategies; enhancing agricultural resilience, and disaster risks; able to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop novel solutions and policies that promote sustainable development and mitigate the impact of natural hazards.

(2) Name of the position: Teaching and Research assistant

Qualifications and experience

A masters degree in ‘Environment and Disaster Management/ Environmental System Management’ with good academic record.

Preferable

PhD in ‘Environment and Disaster Management’ with passion for teaching and research, who will be capable of contributing substantially to the academic activities of our ‘School of Environment and Disaster Management’ as mentioned in the assistant professor category above.

Pay Scale

UGC scales of pay, consistent with the West Bengal State as far as possible.

Please provide only a list of peer reviewed publications if any along with their impact factor. Please attach maximum of 3 best research papers.
2. Any additional information which is not covered in the application format but you think necessary such as details of your expertise, skills, experience etc in the related area and computer knowledge, and any other information you think is an added strength for the job may be provided in a separate pages but in continuation after the application form in the same file under the title ‘Additional Information’
3. The filled in application along with other self attested photocopies of the documents like mark sheets, technical experience certificate etc should be sent to the email address before the last date mentioned above. (The filled in application form should be sent both in doc & pdf format).
4. The email should be sent (along with the application and other attachments) with the subject title “ Application for the post of …….”, while writing the name of respective position in the blank.
5. Applications not in the proper format will not be considered. In case of more number of applications received for a particular position, university reserves the right to screen and shortlist the candidates for further process of selection like interview etc as per the rules of the university.
