Admission to PhD in Environment and Disaster Management for the academic year 2025-2026

 

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for admission to the PhD programme in Environment and Disaster Management under the School of Environment and Disaster Management for the academic year 2025-2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The applicants should have a good academic record throughout, with at least 55% marks in M. Sc. (Environment and Disaster Management, Environment Science, Disaster Management, Geography, Bio-Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Geology / Earth Science / Geo-Science, Geo-informatics / Remote Sensing & GIS, Data Science, and other allied subjects) examinations from any recognized University or Institute of the country. SC/ST candidates will enjoy a 5% concession in the minimum eligibility of marks. AND
  2. FELLOWSHIP HOLDERS: Candidates should have also qualified in CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR (JRF/SRF), or any other fellowship from Government sources (such as an INSPIRE awardee, or a fellowship from any sponsored project) having a valid fellowship at the time of application, OR
  3. NON-FELLOWSHIP HOLDERS: Candidates who do not hold a valid fellowship but have qualified for a national-level entrance test (NET/ CSIR/UGC/ICAR and equivalent) may also apply and may be provided a fellowship from the university, OR
  4. OTHERS: Non-NET applicants will have to appear for a written Research Eligibility Test (RET) to be conducted by the department.

Selection Procedure:

  1. Applicants with NET (CSIR/UGC/equivalent) or GATE or JEST will be selected through a viva-voce examination, including a short presentation of the proposed research theme to be conducted by the department.
  2. Non-NET and DST INSPIRE applicants will have to appear for a written Research Eligibility Test (RET) to be conducted by the department. Candidates qualifying in the written test will further be screened through a viva-voce examination, including a short presentation of the proposed research theme.

Details of the Research Eligibility Test (RET):

The examination will consist of multiple-choice questions carrying 40 marks and subjective questions carrying 20 marks. In accordance with UGC guidelines, half of the questions will cover research methodology and the remaining half will cover the subject matter. Candidates are advised to prepare at the M.Sc. in Environment and Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Geography, Bio-Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Geology / Earth Science / Geo-Science, Geo-informatics / Remote Sensing & GIS, Data Science, and other allied subjects. Please note that there will be no negative marking.

  • Pay Application Fee: Submit the INR 500 application fee online.
  • Upload Documents: Upload necessary documents (photo, mark sheets, certificates etc.).
  • Download Summary & Receipt: Save the application summary and fee receipt after payment.

Admission & Course Fee
