We are glad to announce that Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) will be conducting a special colloquium on “Science based Start-ups: Opportunities & Methods” on 09 August 2024, 11 AM at Seminar Hall, Narendrapur Campus.

In this insightful session, Dr. Roy will explore the journey of transforming innovative ideas into successful startups. She will cover:

  • Key opportunities in the science-based startup ecosystem
  • Methods to navigate the startup journey
  • Real-life case studies, including success stories from Bengal
  • How to leverage intellectual property
  • Common challenges and how to overcome them
  • Insights into funding, incubation, and support systems for startups in India

Abstract

Every large enterprise of today was a small startup at its beginning. Similarly, today’s startups will become the pillars of Indian society in the coming decades. The purpose of this lecture will be to open the minds of youths towards the possibility of creating their own startups, and address some of their basic doubts regarding entrepreneurship.

This lecture will present the case studies of some successful science-based entrepreneurs including some from Bengal also. The lecture will outline the basic trajectory of a startup journey, explain the requirements for beginning a startup, and explain the steps involved in developing a startup from innovative ideas. The lecture will give an idea on using intellectual property for startup creation, structure of startup teams, common mistakes committed by technology startups, dos & don’t s in startup journey. The audience will be informed about the broad areas having startup potential in the coming days.

The lecture would also explain the funding cycles for technology startups, roles of incubation centers, various government and non-government support systems for science based startups in India.
